In celebration of National Fish Day (Harkannas), PT Suri Tani Pemuka (STP), a subsidiary of PT Japfa Comfeed Indonesia Tbk, organized an event titled "STP Gemar Ikan," or the Movement to Promote Fish Consumption. As an aquaculture company, STP reaffirms its commitment to supporting this program by distributing 2,000 servings of processed fish to communities, local organizations, and elementary schools around its operational areas.
The event, held at the Cilandak Village Head Office, was attended by Reno Yusril, Deputy Head of HRGA at PT Suri Tani Pemuka. Reno emphasized that STP Gemar Ikan is a key initiative by the company to support National Fish Day and contribute to efforts to prevent stunting in villages near STP's operational areas. During this event, tilapia and catfish sourced from STP's customers were processed into 2,000 nutritious meals and distributed to the community and schools under the JAPFA For Kids program in Purwakarta.
National Fish Day, celebrated annually on November 21, is an initiative by the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries to raise public awareness about the importance of consuming fish as a healthy and high-quality source of nutrition. In line with this mission, STP, as an active player in the aquaculture industry, contributes by distributing processed fish products to the community, reinforcing the importance of fish consumption in meeting daily nutritional needs.
The event also involved collaborating with stakeholders, including STP's customers, local health centers (Puskesmas), and regional government authorities. Aminto Nugroho, Head of Unit at STP Purwakarta, explained that STP has also built a bio floc pond for the Indonesian Army's KODIM in Purwakarta Regency. The pond is stocked with tilapia seedlings provided by STP's freshwater fish operational unit. "We hope this bio floc pond will support environmentally friendly aquaculture practices in Purwakarta," said Aminto.
Through this ongoing program, STP aims to raise public awareness about the importance of consuming fish, which is rich in nutrients, and help reduce stunting rates among children. The program is also expected to boost fish sales, benefiting local fish farmers.
"We hope that the STP Gemar Ikan initiative will positively impact both the community and our customers. Moving forward, we will continue to support National Fish Day and other government programs related to the aquaculture industry. We will do this through various activities that bring tangible benefits to both society and our customers," Reno concluded in his remarks.
Through this initiative, STP not only supports National Fish Day by promoting fish consumption as a vital source of nutrition but also strengthens aquaculture's role as a sustainable industry that positively contributes to society's well-being.
